Happy New Year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR AND IT WILL BE NEW

Best wishes to all in the New Year for a happy, safe and successful year that brings good Qi (Chinese word for “good energy”).

At the end of last year, I was honored to present a three-hour inter-active presentation over two days at a local community college about the experience of being an employment trial lawyer.  I titled the presentation, “Lights, No Camera, Action:  The Theater Of A Civil Jury Trial In Connecticut.”

I thought the analogy was apt.  As a trial lawyer, you are the Steven Spielberg of the trial production.  You write the script, you assemble and direct the actors, as best you can, you coordinate the props or exhibits.  Unlike a movie or television program, it’s a live show with only one take!  And you get instant feedback and reaction in the form of the jury verdict.  This year, I’m thinking of taking this presentation on the road to other colleges, libraries or senior centers.

However, the focus of the Busca Law Firm will change for 2025.  While I have been conducting arbitrations and mediations in addition to my trial practice since 1998, I will focus exclusively on conducting mediations, such as teacher contract mediations with the Connecticut Department of Education, and arbitrations with the American Arbitration Association (AAA).  I am on the arbitration panel for employment, consumer and commercial cases.

I have had over 30 years of responsible trial experience representing employers and employees in arbitration and state and federal court litigation in the following industries:  state and local government, judicial, police and fire, education, utilities, nuclear power, health care, printing, gaming, financial services, manufacturing, real estate, multi-national government defense contracting, service, landscaping and automobile sales and service.

I have served as arbitrator with the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection, Lemon Law Program, adjudicating claims alleging defective new and used cars.  I have been selected to arbitrate consumer cases involving automobile internet sales, internet advertising, banking and tax assistance.

I am listed as an arbitrator with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.

So, that will be the focus of the Busca Law Firm in 2025.

If I receive inquiries regarding employment litigation matters, I will be referring individuals to other employment attorneys.
